Westminster Presbyterian Church Youth Ministries! At WPC, we have several opportunities for youth to enjoy fellowship, fun activities, learning more about God’s Word and faith. Sunday School meets regularly during the school year in the youth room (downstairs, rm. 2) from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. led by our great volunteer teachers! Contact Cheryl Kinnamon at ckinnamon@wpcoly.org or 357-5750 for more information. Youth Group* has a bit of a wacky schedule that seems to work well for us. During the school year, we meet a combination of Sundays and Tuesdays.* Fun & special events (times & dates arranged & announced throughout the program year)—lock-ins, paintball, laser tag, etc. * The best way to be in touch with the youth group schedule is to contact Lynley Olson, Youth Ministries Coordinator, at ymcofwpc@hotmail.com and ask to be put on the youth group e-mail list. Plugged In! Youth Service meets at 7-8 p.m. the first Sunday of each month. This is a wonderful time to sing praise songs together, share some silly moments, read God’s Word and consider our life/faith stories. Youth who enjoy leading music—come join the youth choir & band at 6 p.m. to rehearse. Youth Choir Terry Shaw (our Director of Music Extraordinaire!) leads Youth Choir. In addition to helping out with Plugged In! this group prepares special pieces to sing occasionally during Worship Services. You may contact Terry at wpcmusic@msn.com. Mentoring We have a youth mentoring program that has served to begin some meaningful partnerships. Interested youth are paired up with a dedicated adult member of the church for the purpose of support, fun and fellowship. If you would like a mentor—or to be one, please contact Lynley (ymcofwpc@hotmail.com). **There are wonderful opportunities for youth in worship (ex. lay leading, offering help, instrumental music), leadership (help with departments, co-organizing special events) and ministry. Please feel free to contact Lynley for more information if you’re interested in serving in one of these ways. Numerous youth group events will require a Youth Group Permission and Medical Release Form. The form needs to be filled out and returned to Lynley. The form covers the entire year of activities. WPC has a Children and Youth Safety Policy. The policy is available online. |
